Professional history should be documented—not rewritten.

These products formed part of genuine technical sales, system selection and installer-training experience. Recording that knowledge is not a statement about current availability or a present commercial relationship. It is an honest account of the systems previously handled and the principles learned from them.

This is a rounded historical estimate of the combined TECHNONICOL roofing-material volume supplied across Ireland. It demonstrates the scale of the earlier range without presenting the total as Sergej’s personally installed area.

Five families mapped by their historic system position.

Each range included distinct lower-layer and exposed-layer responsibilities. Product names alone never replaced assessment of the substrate, reinforcement, finish, application method and complete roof build-up.

ECOFLEX

A two-layer underlay and mineral cap-sheet route handled as an accessible starting point within the historic Ireland range. Its local commercial position should not be confused with the manufacturer’s separate corporate class labels.

BICROELAST

A coordinated membrane family with a film-faced lower layer and mineral-finished upper layer. The two products performed different jobs and were specified as a build-up rather than interchangeable rolls.

The upper end of the historic system ladder: reinforced lower-layer and exposed cap-sheet membranes selected where the project required the most demanding route within the range.

ARCHIVE CLASSIFICATION NOTE

Ecoflex was handled as an accessible commercial route within the historic local offer. The manufacturer’s archived catalogue used its own Standard, Business and Premium class structure, so local sales positioning and corporate classification are intentionally not treated as the same thing.

TWO-LAYER SYSTEM PRINCIPLE

A cap sheet was never the complete roof.

The named membrane family still had to be coordinated with the substrate, attachment, insulation, vapour strategy, primer and detail treatment.

Bitumen blocks and YAM 2000 preserved an older installation route.

This was a pour-and-roll build-up rather than a conventional torch-on product selection. The heated bitumen formed the bonding layer while YAM 2000 provided the reinforced underlay within the built-up system.

Prepare the substrate

The deck condition, dryness and priming determined whether the hot bonding route could perform correctly.

Heat the bitumen

Solid bitumen blocks were heated and controlled as the hot-applied bonding medium—not treated as a cold repair coating.

Roll the underlay

YAM 2000 was embedded as a reinforced lower layer and was not an exposed mineral cap sheet.

03 / PITCHED ROOFING

SHINGLAS belonged to a complete covering system.

The bituminous shingle was the visible weathering layer. Deck condition, pitch, underlay coverage, eaves, valleys, ventilation, fixing and mastic details still controlled the roof beneath it.

Continuous or critical-zone underlay, correct fixing, eaves, valleys, penetrations and ventilation formed the rest of the pitched-roof system.

04 / PREPARATION + REPAIR COMPONENTS

Primers and mastics had defined jobs.

They supported adhesion, preparation, repair and detailing, but they were not universal substitutes for one another or for the primary waterproofing layer.

Bituminous primers

Used to condition compatible porous or dusty substrates and support membrane adhesion before torch-on or bonded work.

Repair mastics

Used for selected local repairs, sealing and detail work where the substrate, movement and exposure suited the specific composition.

Hot mastics

Heated application products forming part of traditional built-up waterproofing—not ready-to-use cold compounds.
